400kV SHORT-CIRCUIT PROOF

It 's with great joy and satisfaction that we can announce that we have successfully passed all acceptance, type and special tests including the short circuit test too for our first 400kV transformer.

 

The unit is a single-phase transformer 60 / 80MVA, primary voltage 400kV with regulation and two independent 27,5kV secundaries which in service will be used to form the 55kV.
The design of this transformer has required a long period of study and validation of measures before then.
The study showed that the intrinsic difficulties of the project, especially for what concern the short circuit voltages between the various branches, and the need to validate our own know-how in this new category of transformers.
In addition to this there was the real difficulty of having to reconcile the realization of the new part of the plant required for the construction of such units at the same time of the prototype production.

But in the end, after overcoming important difficulties, the transformer arrived in the test room where it successfully passed the acceptance tests and part of the type tests before being sent to the Netherlands for the short circuit test.
The short-circuit test, as experience shows, even with the certainty of having done everything as best as possible, there is always a moment of great tension, but the result was absolutely satisfying.
The maximum variation of impedance close to zero has indeed certified in the best way the perfect realization of the transformer.

Finally returning to Modena, after all type tests, it was possible to celebrate with our client who first, with courage, has always believed in us and with all of our employees the project's success.

Now, with great pride, we can say that even Elettromeccanica Tironi produces 400kV transformers  !!
