Power Transformers

Up to 420kV, in mineral oil (also 100% recycled) or in synthetic or natural ester

All Power Transformers by Elettromeccanica Tironi comply with international standards (IEC, IEEE/ANSI, …) and are built according to the technical specifications of the end customer. The production range currently reaches units of 400MVA power and 420kV voltage, immersed in mineral oil (also 100% recycled) or in synthetic or natural ester.

They are normally divided into the following categories:

Transformers for large-scale distribution (DSO)

These are Step-Down transformers designed to distribute energy obtained from high voltage networks to lower voltage networks. They are typically three-phase transformers with on-load tap-changers (OLTC) for changing the transformation ratio.

Transmission transformers (TSO)

These are designed to work in high voltage transmission networks They are typically three-phase transformers and autotransformers with on-load tap-changer (OLTC) for changing the transformation ratio.

Production transformers (GSU)

These are Generator step-up transformers (GSU), designed to produce power and to be installed in the electrical inputs and to connect the generator to the high voltage distribution or transmission network.

They can be equipped with no-load tap changer (NLTC) for small changes in the transformation ratio.

All transformers are tested in the factory – before shipment – and on the specific site after reassembly to grant maximum quality and reliability to all our customers and ensure compliance with the guaranteed values.

Transformers can be installed in environments with
particularly severe conditions:

Operating temperatures: -50°C +55°C

Altitude >2000m above sea level.

Highly corrosive environment

Seismic zones
