Today in Modena, with the support of Elettromeccanica Tironi SRL, the art exhibition “Buoni di cuore sventati di testa – Pinocchio, Don Chisciotte e altre storie di Giorgio Scapinelli” opens to the public.
Marking the bicentenary of the birth of Carlo Lorenzini (better known by his pen name Carlo Collodi), the “father” of Pinocchio, and coinciding with the opening of the Festival della Filosofia 2026, the exhibition at the Museo Civico di Modena features Pinocchio, Don Quixote, and Baron Munchausen as the central characters in a tribute to Giorgio Scapinelli, known as Scap (Modena, 1926 – Bologna, 1999).
Originally created in the 1950s, these three iconic characters are being presented for the first time together with their complete stories, in dialogue with the artist’s entire body of work: comics, illustrations, paintings, advertising artwork, and the unforgettable characters created for Carosello. The exhibition offers a journey through Scap’s imagination and through the history of Italy, from the post-war years to the economic boom.
