Day of study on magnetic materials: students from the "ITS" visiting Tironi

Another step has been made on the synergy between the school and work worlds; twentyfive students coming from ITS Course (High-Level Technical Institute, where Eng. Maurizio Tironi is one of the founding members) visited Elettromeccanica Tironi during a day of study on “magnetic materials”.
The tour has been divided in three main phases: movies vision on the production, cutting and assembling of grain oriented magnetic steel; transfer to the Quality Control departments and Test Room in order to see the different acceptance phases and tests on cores; the demonstration of the practical use of cores in a workshop production.

The day represented a perfect synthesis of a practical-theorical course about the materials-production relationship.
More specifically, Elettromeccanica Tironi gave the students the possibility to improve their knowledge on the magnetic steel as one of the main “ingredient” for power transformers manufacturing.
In order to make even more fascinating and educational the theoretical part of the visit, Eng. Maurizio Tironi involved directly one of his major suppliers, specialised in magnetic steel production and almost near to the most prestigious steel manufacturers worldwide. Therefore, students could deal with a qualified technician, Eng. Paolo Ruggeri from LTC, and watch two videos having specific relevance with the matter: the first concerned a production line of grain oriented magnetic steel (casting, rolling and treatment in a controlled atmosphere), the second concerned a cutting line of shaped magnetic steel and transformers cores assembly workstations. The first movie, by the way, represented for all students, an ideal completion of the study on production processes observed during the visit to Rubiera Steelworks. Between the movies session and the workshop visit a rich snack was offered to all guests which represented the warmest welcome in the factory.
Every step of the visit was marked by the passionate explanation of Eng. Maurizio Tironi,  that at the end of the morning gave students the “latest gem”: the direct vision of a reactor’s core.
